Michael Moore

Michael J. Moore is an artist dedicated to the classical tradition, preparing his own canvases and mediums. A Vietnam veteran and former commercial fisherman, Moore’s work draws from the timeless techniques of the Dutch and Italian masters.

His process starts with careful preparation of each surface, allowing the natural tone of the canvas to show through thin layers of paint, enhancing light or deepening shadows. This technique creates a rich interplay of light, form, and texture.

After studying at the Art Students League of New York for eight years, Moore spent time painting and living in Nantucket and Strafford, VT, before settling in Dedham, MA.
