I'm K Tornheim, and I create jewelry. I use wire and hand-colored brass, where I produce marvelous shimmering colors with alcohol inks followed by layers of gloss varnish to give the look of enamels without using a kiln. I also make use of antique keys, crystals, carved bone faces, watch gears, and a myriad of other materials. I shape my wire freeform with a few hand tools and occasionally create elaborate woven wire pieces.

I like learning new techniques. I use metal stamps to impress words. I make kumihimo cords from shifting colors of silk. In the past I have tried my hand at enameling, stained glass, beadweaving, lucet braiding, and sculpting in a variety of materials. I have written songs and poetry, made ink drawings and collage. I would like to revisit more of these arts, as well experiment with new methods in jewelry-making.
